Of all the sports, football and football strength training, are my passion. As I have been a football coach for over 40 years I am sure this section will be helpful to those players wanting to learn more about reaching their full potential as an athlete.

Football has specific demands that need to be addressed when training.

* Explosive acceleration and fast sprinting speed.

* Muscular endurance and strength in the lower body.

* Muscular balance and high levels of neuromuscular coordination.

* Body awareness and agility, the ability to know where your body is, and be able to move it.

* Discipline to take orders and decisions, as well as putting the team first.

* Good flexibility to avoid injury, football players are prone to poor hamstring flexibility.

* Correct balance between your quadriceps and hamstrings, as well as strength imbalances between your left and right leg.

Set Your Goals:

*****Get better- Work harder

*****Standout from the rest in all competition

*****Become the best you can through effective training

*****Raise your personal bar of excellence with each routine

*****Leave nothing on the field- give everything you have.

Follow a Football Training Conditioning Program

There are four components necessary to prepare for football season:

Strength, Power, Speed, and Agility.

The purpose of any strength training program is to prevent injury and to improve your performance.

If a split routine is desired, the Neck, Chest, Back, and Triceps can be done in one session with the Shoulders, Hips, Legs, Low Back, and Biceps completed on alternate days. Abdominals should be completed at every workout.

Fundamentals, speed, strength, agility, power, and endurance are what coaches are looking for in their high school football players.

Use the football drills to improve your ability and talent. Then learn to incorporate the benefit of the drills into your game. Attract the attention of your coaches and scouts by showcasing your talents and skills on demand.

It is strength training that will make you a stand out player... continuous, effective, sport-specific training.

If you have the desire to play at the next level, know that it will require hard work , determination, and a great strength training program, which I will try to teach you in this site.

Click on the links below to learn more about the four key components of an excellent football strength training program. I believe these drills will produce the best football players.

Training for Combat Sports

For anyone who has ever played the sport, you know that football is definitely a combat sport. One of the greatest concerns of combat sports like wrestling, MMA, football and hockey...is the immense shock that is inflicted on the athlete's body. For athletes that like it rough, the ballistic shock of a kettlebell workout teaches your body how to absorb shock efficiently. This kind of football strength training is critical for combat sport athletes.

Football players need to increase their vertical leap for explosive power. There is a great manual for jump training availble with lots of exercises for increasing your vertical leap. For more information Click Here!

Positions

Different positions on the football field have many different needs and challenges. If you are an offensive or a special teams player there is a good website with advice for Quarterbacks, Centers, and Tight Ends.

There is also advice for Field Goal Kicking involving the Snap and the Holder. Punting technique is also covered. If you are looking for more information on those positions check out Sports-Techniques.com and click through the football section. It's your one-stop free sport techniques website. Learn it right. Play it forever!
